DRW is a trading firm that trades with its own money rather than for clients, an approach called proprietary trading. It uses mathematical models, technology and research to find opportunities in markets around the world.

It trades many kinds of products on exchanges across the globe. Much of its trading is market making, meaning it stands ready to buy and sell at all times and earns a small margin on each trade, which keeps markets liquid. It also takes positions on its own views and runs very fast automated strategies.

Beside trading, DRW runs Cumberland DRW, which trades crypto assets for large investors, DRW Venture Capital, which invests in financial and business technology companies, and Convexity Properties, which buys and improves property. Engineers, quantitative researchers and traders work side by side. A junior trader tends to watch positions and risk, improve pricing models and work closely with the developers who build the trading systems.
