BNP Paribas is a French bank, one of the largest in the eurozone, present in 64 countries and territories with more than 180,000 staff. It has served British clients for over 150 years, and London is one of its main hubs for investment banking and markets.

The group has three divisions. Corporate and Institutional Banking lends to large companies, helps them raise money by issuing bonds and shares, advises on mergers and acquisitions, trades bonds, currencies, shares and derivatives for investors, and holds and administers securities for institutions. Commercial, Personal Banking and Services covers everyday banking and specialist businesses such as equipment leasing, which in Britain finances machinery, vehicles and farm equipment for businesses. Investment and Protection Services covers insurance, asset management, wealth management and real estate.

Most juniors in London join Corporate and Institutional Banking. In capital markets and leveraged finance a junior analyst builds models, prepares pitch material and helps arrange bond and loan deals. In global markets a junior supports traders and salespeople, prices trades and tracks risk. In corporate banking a junior analyses companies' finances to decide how much the bank can lend.
