Macquarie is an Australian financial group that operates in 30 markets. In London it is best known as one of the world's largest investors in infrastructure and as a trader of energy, metals and other commodities.

Macquarie Asset Management buys and runs roads, ports, energy networks and renewable power for pension funds and other investors, and also invests in property, private credit and farmland. Commodities and Global Markets trades energy, metals, currencies and interest rates for clients and offers futures clearing, which means standing between a client and an exchange and guaranteeing the client's trades. Macquarie Capital advises on and invests in deals, often in infrastructure and technology.

A junior in the asset management teams models the cash an infrastructure asset will produce over decades. In markets, a junior supports the traders or brokers who carry out futures and options trades for hedge funds and asset managers, and learns the systems that watch the risk.
