Nomura is a Japanese investment bank with a large business in London. It advises companies on mergers and acquisitions, helps them raise money by selling shares and bonds, and trades securities for investors.

Its investment banking division covers advice on buying and selling companies, raising equity and debt, and leveraged finance, which is lending to companies that already carry a lot of debt, often ones being bought by private equity funds. Its markets business trades shares, bonds and other products for clients, and includes teams for securitised products, which are bonds backed by pools of loans, and private credit, which is lending arranged directly rather than through public markets.
