Barclays is a British bank that combines everyday banking for millions of people with a large investment bank run from London. It has five divisions, which are Barclays UK for personal and business banking, the Investment Bank, the UK Corporate Bank, the Private Bank and Wealth Management, and a consumer bank in the United States that issues credit cards.

The investment bank has two sides. Investment banking advises companies on mergers and acquisitions and helps them raise money by selling shares or bonds, and its leveraged finance team arranges loans for companies bought by private equity firms. Global Markets trades bonds, currencies, commodities and shares for pension funds, hedge funds and other large investors. The UK Corporate Bank lends to and handles payments for mid-sized British companies.

A junior analyst in investment banking builds valuation models, prepares pitch documents and works on live deals within an industry or product team. In markets, juniors help price trades, talk to clients and manage risk. Graduates also join the corporate bank, research and the technology teams that run the bank's systems.
