Terms
The short version: be honest with us, we are honest with you, and money is never an argument.
What this is
On xlookup you will find London finance jobs at every level (spring weeks, summer internships, off-cycle internships, placements, graduate roles and experienced roles), each labelled by its level, and on every one a briefing that explains it.
Without an account you read the board with its search and sort, the first section of every briefing, every firm and team, and Learn.
A free account adds every briefing section, tracking, target lists, alerts and the CV builder.
Membership (£12 a month or £30 a term) adds our guess of when each team next takes people and the way in where nothing is advertised, who to write to, a pack for each application (your CV tailored, a cover letter, the form's questions answered), the coach, the questions firms ask and the whole library.
Accuracy, and what we promise about it
- Jobs come from the firms' own pages and can change after we last looked. A date we show is the date the firm stated.
- Where a briefing reads between the lines of an advert rather than restating it, it says so.
- Your coach and the CV builder are automated readings grounded in what is on the site. They can be wrong. Decisions about your applications are yours; check anything that matters against the firm's own page, which every posting links to.
- Where the site says when something usually happens, that is an estimate from past years, and it is labelled as one.
- What a firm or a team actually does is written in our own words, as the most likely reading of its own pages, its adverts and what is known of it, so that it cuts through the marketing. That reading can be wrong now and then.
- A value with the sign ~ in front of it is an estimate: about that much. Estimates of a firm or a team (its size, who works there, where they came from and where they go) are inferred from what people make public about where they have worked, and from firms of the same kind, always from groups, never from one person.
- Who can apply to a job is shown as its advert states it. Where an advert says nothing, a value with the sign ~ is read from the firm's other adverts for the same kind of job, or from what jobs of that kind usually ask, and it can be wrong. The firm's own advert, which every posting links to, decides.
Money
- Membership is £12 a month or £30 a term (four months), billed by Stripe, renewing until you cancel.
- Cancel any time from your account. You keep access to the end of the period you paid for and are not charged again.
- Refunds without argument. Reply to any email from us and say so. You will not be asked why.
- If £30 is a real obstacle, tell us in three sentences and give a number we can call you on. Membership is switched on when you send the form, before the call.
Your career path, if you choose to add it
- Optional, off unless you switch it on from your page. Nothing on your account changes either way.
- You give us the link to your own public career profile. What we read from it is counted into estimated shares such as "an estimated 40% of analysts here moved on to private equity". No head count, year or name from it is published.
- A figure is published only when at least five people stand behind it, or three for when a team or firm takes people on (the month they usually start, the years it took anyone, how many a year). No page names you, and your profile and what we read from it never leave our own systems.
- Switch it off any time from your page: we stop reading it and delete what we read.
Fair use
- One account per person. Your sign-in link, your sign-in code and the key that connects your own AI assistant to your account are yours and not for sharing.
- Use the site as a person looking for a job or helping one. Scraping it, reselling its data or briefings, or driving your coach and the CV builder by script is not that, and we will close accounts that do it.
- The writing rules we give your own AI, for a CV, a letter or a form, are for your own applications. Collecting them, copying them out in bulk or publishing them is not that either.
- Don't upload someone else's CV without their permission.
Us
We may change or stop parts of the service; if we stop the paid membership we refund the unused part of what you paid. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. They were written to be read, so if something here is unclear, ask.
