You start your career as a salesperson or trader on one of a bank's trading desks, serving large investors who buy and sell bonds, currencies, shares and commodities.

Markets is the part of Barclays that trades for institutional investors such as pension funds and hedge funds. Salespeople look after clients and bring in their orders, traders price those orders and manage the risk the bank holds, and structurers design tailored products. After training you join one desk, such as Commodities, Credit, Equities, Foreign Exchange, Rates, Structuring or Securitised Products.
