What the job is
You help a trading desk borrow and lend securities and cash, keeping it funded and managing the risks that come with that. The seat is a junior role in the financing team within sales and trading.
Trading desks need cash to hold positions and sometimes need to borrow shares or bonds they do not own. The financing desk arranges this through securities lending and repo, and uses the securities it holds as collateral, which is what a lender can keep if a loan is not repaid.
