What the job is
You help large companies and investors raise money through shares, bonds and loans, as a graduate in the Capital Markets business of Global Banking at BNP Paribas in London. The programme starts in 2027 and is non rotational, so you join one team and stay in it, while working with many other teams across the bank. You could be placed in Equity Capital Market, Corporate Broking, Real Estate Capital Markets, Energy and Infrastructure, Debt Capital Markets, Leverage Finance or Loan Capital Markets.
Each team raises a different kind of money. Equity Capital Market helps companies sell shares, through a stock market listing, a quick sale of a block of shares or a rights issue offered to existing shareholders. Debt Capital Markets helps companies with good credit ratings issue bonds. Leverage Finance raises debt for private equity funds and companies with lower credit ratings. Loan Capital Markets structures the loans that pay for large acquisitions.
Energy and Infrastructure advises on and arranges limited recourse financing, where lenders are repaid only from the project's own cash. Real Estate Capital Markets finances commercial property for private equity funds, sovereign wealth funds and listed property companies. Corporate Broking advises listed companies in the United Kingdom on their shareholders, the market and the rules they must follow.
