What the job is
You design and build the programmable chip logic a trading firm uses to react to markets faster than ordinary software can. The seat is a Senior FPGA Engineer in one of DRW's trading teams, in London or Amsterdam. An FPGA is a field programmable gate array, a chip whose circuits you can rewire with code, so that a task runs in hardware rather than in a program. Trading firms use them because a circuit built for one job answers in a tiny fraction of the time a general computer needs. DRW has used the technology for years, and this seat builds new FPGA applications for teams that already trade with it.
You take each application from the ground up through the full development cycle. Architecture, writing the logic, synthesis, place and route, timing analysis, testing at block and system level, and documentation, so that a design someone else can maintain ends up running live in the markets.
