Macquarie Capital is part of Macquarie, an Australian financial group operating in 30 markets. The group's investing in infrastructure and other real assets sits mainly in Macquarie Asset Management, which buys and runs roads, energy networks, telecoms, data centres and other essential businesses for pension funds, insurers and other investors, while Macquarie Capital advises companies on deals and invests the group's own money alongside them.

Macquarie Asset Management also runs green investments, which fund renewable power and other ways of cutting carbon, real estate, agriculture, credit and secondaries, where it buys existing stakes in infrastructure funds from investors who want to sell. Macquarie Capital's advisory bankers work on mergers, acquisitions and financing, often in infrastructure, energy and technology.

A junior in an infrastructure team builds models of the cash an asset will produce over decades, researches sectors and works on due diligence with engineers, lawyers and accountants. In advisory, a junior builds valuation models and prepares the documents for live deals. Every material risk the group takes is reviewed by an independent risk management team.
