What the job is
You trade options on a volatility team at a firm that trades its own money, and build the models and tools that decide what prices to quote. The seat is called Quantitative Trading Analyst. Options are contracts that give the right to buy or sell something at a set price, and what an option is worth depends on how much the market expects the underlying thing to move, which is its volatility. Your job is to use maths and data to work out what those options are worth, quote prices to the market and manage the risk of the positions that result.
The seat sits on one trading team focused on volatility, inside a firm that trades fixed income, equities, currencies, commodities and energy across the major markets. You are expected to help the team move into new products and asset classes over time, so the work is not tied to a single market.
