Graduate / Full-Time analyst
A graduate role is a full-time permanent job for people finishing university, and in banking it usually carries the title analyst. You join an intake of new starters, spend the first weeks in training together, then move into your team and take on its day-to-day work.
Many firms fill much of their graduate intake from their own summer interns, so a graduate application is often a second door rather than the main one. The places left over are advertised directly, and some firms, especially in asset management, insurance and operations, recruit mainly at this stage through a structured programme with rotations.
Analysts are usually promoted after a few years, to associate in banking and to similar titles elsewhere. Applications usually open during the final year of university, and some firms hire through the year as places come up.
