What the job is
You join a hedge fund as a graduate trainee and move between its trading teams, learning how each trades, before settling into one as a trader. The Capula Analyst Programme lasts two years. It is built from rotations, meaning a spell of 6 to 8 months in one team before you move to the next, and some rotations can be spent in the offices in London, New York, Hong Kong, Singapore and Tokyo.
The rotations teach you how financial markets work and show you, and the firm, where your skills fit best. At the end of the two years, those who do well are likely to be placed in a full-time job as a trader in a specific trading team. A trader decides what to buy and sell, when and at what price, and looks after the positions the fund holds.
