Who to write to at JPMorgan

What this title actually means

This is the 2027 Sales summer internship in London: nine weeks running June to August, inside the Commercial & Investment Bank, at 25 Bank Street, Canary Wharf. Job category 'Seasonal Employee', schedule full time, posted 1 September 2026, 'Apply Before 01/11/2026, 23:55'. The firm says it is targeted at penultimate-year or final-year students and is a pipeline to the analyst programme the following year, with offers of full-time employment on graduation for those who do well. Source

The firm describes Sales as helping corporate and institutional clients navigate the breadth of J.P. Morgan's product offerings across Markets and Platform Services, matching the firm's resources to client needs and packaging tailor-made solutions; salespeople carry a wide knowledge of multiple products and proactively engage clients with trade ideas. As an intern you support the team in understanding client objectives, market priorities and risk management needs; help prepare client materials, market updates, trade ideas and product presentations; monitor market developments and client activity; and work with trading, structuring, research and other internal teams to deliver solutions. Source

Sales on a trading floor is not selling in the ordinary sense, and the word puts a lot of good students off a job they would be excellent at. You cover a set of institutional clients - funds, insurers, pension money, corporate treasurers - you know what they hold and what is worrying them, and you bring them ideas your traders can price. The trader owns the position and the risk; you own the relationship and the flow that comes with it. It is a talking job with real numbers underneath it, scored in daily conversations rather than in a deal that closes in six months, and it is the corner of Markets where being genuinely articulate counts as a technical skill.

The team

The posting says Sales and stops. It never names a desk, and on a trading floor 'Sales' is a dozen different jobs - rates, credit, FX, equities, commodities - each with its own clients, its own products and its own vocabulary. All the page tells you is that you work alongside trading, structuring and research. So the desk is decided after the offer, and the honest answer to 'which one' is that this page does not say. Ask the recruiter which London desks are taking summer interns this year; it is a normal question and the answer changes how you prepare.

30 people have held London roles in JPMorgan's Markets division since 2018 - the closest unit to this posting, and a useful corrective to the size of the brand: against the 216 the record holds for the firm's investment bank, the markets side is the smaller London population to reach into for a coffee or an introduction.

The firm

580 people have held London roles at JPMorgan as a whole since 2018, across the investment bank, markets, asset management and research.

What this posting signals

'We recommend that you apply to one Markets program only.' And: 'We fill our classes on a rolling basis and encourage early applications.' The page's Similar Jobs list names the alternatives it has in mind: the 2027 Research and 2027 Global Markets summer internships in London, both posted 31 August 2026, a Data & AI summer internship in Glasgow and London, and the Asset Management Investments summer programme. Source

One Markets application is the strategic decision here, and picking Sales says something specific: you want the client-facing end of the floor. If what you actually enjoy is forming a view and being marked on it by the close, the Global Markets row with its trading tracks is the better use of your one shot; if you enjoy writing and defending an argument at length, it is Research. Sales rewards people who can hold five conversations, remember what each client owns, and be trusted with a number.

The stated cut-off is 1 November 2026, but the class fills as applications arrive and the firm says programmes close as positions are filled. September beats October; October beats a form submitted on the last night against a class that is already three-quarters full.

Are you eligible?

The required list is unusually short: proficient verbal and written communication skills for the country you are applying to; willingness to take on responsibility and manage your own projects in collaboration with colleagues; and a graduation date from June 2027 to August 2028. Preferred: a strong interest in global financial markets and investigative and quantitative skills; flexibility and attention to detail; a well-rounded academic background including extra-curricular positions. Source

Process: do not register with a '.edu or.ac.uk' email address, which the firm says can delay updates on your candidacy. If you advance you are invited to complete a video interview and a maths test, both powered by HireVue; both are required and the firm says your application will not be considered for further review until you have completed both. Source

No degree subject and no minimum grade are stated, so on paper the only thing that can rule you out is the graduation window of June 2027 to August 2028 - check your month before anything else. Everything after that is the HireVue, and for a sales seat that is fitting: a few minutes of you speaking clearly on camera is the closest thing to the job itself, and the maths test exists to prove the numbers will not be the problem.
