2027 UK Global Advisory Summer Analyst Programme - London
No deadline given. It closes when the places fill, which on a sought-after London desk is often weeks after it opens. Apply as if it closes tomorrow.
What this title actually means
A ten-week summer analyst programme in London starting June 2027, aimed at students in their second or penultimate year of university. Applications opened on 19 August 2026; the firm recruits on a rolling basis, accepting applications and interviewing continuously once applications are open, and encourages candidates to submit early. The shape of the ten weeks, in the firm's words: an intensive classroom training programme covering accounting, valuation and modelling plus internally led presentations, after which you join one of its M&A or Debt & Restructuring teams for the remainder of the internship, with networking events and learning sessions across the summer and meaningful responsibility as soon as you join the desk. At the end you could be considered for a permanent role on the Graduate Programme for the following year. Source
The title says 'Global Advisory', which on this same page covers nine service lines - M&A and Strategic Advisory, Global Financing Solutions, Restructuring & Liability Management, Global Markets Solutions, Special Advisory, Global Investor Advisory, Sovereign Advisory, Geostrategic Advisory and ESG Advisory. The intern allocation is narrower than that and the posting says so: one of the M&A or Debt & Restructuring teams. Read this row as an M&A-or-restructuring internship. If you want the equity advisory side of the division, this is not the listing that gets you there.
The team
The work as described: research the industries clients operate in to support senior bankers' marketing initiatives; provide specified input for company profiles, presentations and other documents; provide input and editing of Excel-based models including the application of various valuation techniques; support the team in coordinating the transaction process during live transactions; and attend internal and external calls and meetings as appropriate. 82 people have held London roles in Rothschild & Co's M&A unit since 2018 - the larger of the two desks this programme places interns on, and the biggest single unit the record holds at the firm.
13 people have held London roles in Rothschild & Co's Debt Advisory unit since 2018, the debt side of that pair as the record hold it. On those numbers the M&A floor is several times the size, so if you have no preference the odds put you there.
M&A and Debt & Restructuring are not interchangeable summers. On M&A you learn the sale process and the comps and DCF work that surrounds it; on debt and restructuring you learn capital structures, covenants and what happens when a company cannot pay - a smaller, more specialised world that is counter-cyclical to the first. Ask which desks are taking interns and say which you want, because the allocation happens after the offer and nobody will ask you twice.

321 people have held London roles at Rothschild & Co as a whole since 2018. Every unit the record holds beneath that number is an advisory or wealth business - M&A, Global Advisory, Debt Advisory, Merchant Banking, Wealth Management and Equity Advisory - which is the honest shape of the place: an advisory house, with the London weight on the advisory floor.
What this posting signals
This is the front door. The posting says the internship can lead to consideration for a permanent role on the Graduate Programme the following year, and at this firm that is not a courtesy line - the graduate class is filled from the internship pipeline. Treat the ten weeks as the graduate interview, and treat this application as the one that matters most in your penultimate year.
Opened 19 August 2026, rolling, interviews running continuously, no closing date. It is early September now, which is the right week to be applying: the class fills from the front and by the winter you are competing for what is left rather than for the class. Being ready is the only advantage available here, because there is no date to prepare towards.
Are you eligible?
Aimed at students in their second or penultimate year of university, on track for a minimum of a 2:1 or equivalent. The firm asks for a genuine interest in corporate finance with good commercial awareness, strong analytical and numerical skills, good computer skills including Word, Excel and PowerPoint, excellent communication and teamwork, diligence and commitment to excellence, attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple tasks, and the ambition and drive to deliver results under tight deadlines. Year of study is the gate, and it is the one people get wrong: second year, or penultimate year of a longer course. A finalist or a recent graduate is outside this programme's stated eligibility no matter how strong the application, and the firm's own Students and Graduates menu lists Graduates, Internships, Early Insights and Apprenticeships as separate routes - find the one that matches your year rather than spending the application here. No degree subject, graduation window or right-to-work condition is stated, so those filters live in the form.
