New here? Every junior finance job in London, each one explained in plain English. Start with what the words mean, then work down the board.
No deadline given. It closes when the places fill, which on a sought-after London desk is often weeks after it opens. Apply as if it closes tomorrow.
International Private Bank, Lending Advisor, UK Team. Job Category Capital Advisory, Business Unit Asset & Wealth Management, posted 15 May 2026, at 60 Victoria Embankment, EC4Y 0JP, full time, with no closing date given. The posting says: 'A key member of the J.P. Morgan Private Bank team of specialists, the Lending Advisor manages our most complex borrowing relationships by presenting J.P. Morgan Private Bank's Credit solutions to ultra-high net worth clients and advising on implementation.' It places the seat in the UK market of the firm's EMEA private banking business. Source
'Lending Advisor' is the token to read carefully, because it puts you on the credit side of a private bank rather than the investment side. The client is a person or a family with a great deal of money, and the product being sold is borrowing - against a portfolio, a business, or an asset. Follow the posting's own sequence and you have the job: originate the lead, structure the loan or derivative, underwrite it, drive it through credit approval, price it to a profitable structure, then monitor the risk and change the debt structure or rating when the risk changes. Half salesperson, half credit officer, and the page says as much in its final requirement - 'ability to maintain a balance between marketing and credit risk roles'.
Our org map holds no node for this desk, so nothing here is prefilled from one - and 'UK Team' is about as much as the title gives you. The page's own Similar Jobs list shows what it sits among in London: a UK Entrepreneurs & Executives team, a UK Financial Institutions Group team within the Private Bank, and a MENAT team, each hiring separately and each named on the same site. So the UK private bank is several desks split by client type, and this advert does not say which clients would be yours. That is the first question, because lending to an entrepreneur against their company is a different job from lending to a fund principal against a portfolio.
The stated responsibilities: originate credit leads from prospects and existing clients and lead credit marketing initiatives for the local market; partner with other client advisory professionals to uncover needs and deliver financings or restructurings; act as internal sales leader for the credit product, liaising with the market manager, bankers and investors; analyse clients' capital structures and advise on their appropriateness against the balance sheet and cash flow; underwrite and execute both loan and derivative structures; play the lead role in the credit approval process, supervising credit and restructure memos and directing analysis, due diligence and credit presentations; recommend pricing; monitor portfolio risk and change debt structures and risk ratings in response; and assist in the development and retention of junior team members. The posting describes the Private Bank as a global wealth management leader delivering advice, service, capabilities and products to ultra-high-net-worth individuals and families around the world, and places it inside J.P. Morgan Asset & Wealth Management, where asset management serves individuals, advisers and institutions across asset classes and wealth management works with individuals, families and foundations. 580 people have held London roles at JPMorgan as a whole since 2018, across the investment bank, markets, asset management and the private bank.
No band appears in the title and no years figure appears in the requirements, but the responsibilities settle it: you would lead the credit approval process, supervise credit and restructure memos, recommend pricing and help develop junior team members. That is a senior desk hire. The neighbouring adverts on the same page name their bands - Executive Director, Vice President, Senior Associate - and this one does not, which is the only real ambiguity on the row.
Posted 15 May 2026 and still on the site in September - nearly four months. We do not mark a posting closed on absence alone and J.P. Morgan has not said it is closed, so treat it as live and unverified. But a named seat that old is either quietly filled or hard to fill, and neither state rewards a form submitted into silence.
Required: strong expertise in credit, financial instruments and derivatives transactions; energy and drive with excellent relationship management skills; business development and overall marketing skills; a high level of analytical skill including financial analysis; the ability to identify and analyse credit opportunities and their attendant risks; familiarity and expertise with credit documentation; experience structuring complex transactions; and the ability to maintain a balance between marketing and credit risk roles. Source
There is no degree requirement, no years-of-experience figure and no right-to-work line here, and that is not an opening. Every item on the list - expertise in credit and derivatives, familiarity with credit documentation, experience structuring complex transactions, business development - describes someone already doing this job somewhere. For a student the value of this row is the map rather than the application: it tells you a private bank runs a lending desk alongside its investment one, that the desk is split by client type across several UK teams, and that people arrive at it from either a credit or a markets background.
