You spend 10 weeks with the bankers who look after Japanese companies operating in the UK, helping to win their business and to decide how much the bank can lend them. This is corporate banking. The bank's tie to a company rests on lending to it and running its everyday banking, such as its accounts and payments, rather than on one-off deals. You follow the whole cycle with a client, from marketing the bank's services to the credit analysis that decides how much is safe to lend. The summer opens with a week of technical training, and then you join Japanese Corporate Banking.
