What the job is
You spend 10 weeks with salespeople who help companies, investors and governments buy and sell currencies and protect themselves against moves in the markets. Global Client Sales sits in the Risk Solutions Department of the bank's Capital Markets group. It builds the bank's foreign exchange business, the buying and selling of currencies, and is the first point of contact for its target clients on any currency question. A salesperson works out what a client needs and brings the trade to the traders who price it. The summer opens with a week of technical training.
A company that earns in dollars but reports in another currency might buy a hedge, a contract that locks in an exchange rate so that a swing in the currency does not eat into its profits. Selling that kind of protection, and helping clients trade, is what the team does.
