Global Markets (Sales & Trading) Rotational Programme 2027 Summer Analyst - London
Closes Sun 11 October
What this title actually means
This is Bank of America's Global Markets (Sales & Trading) Rotational Programme 2027 Summer Analyst in London, posted 1 September 2026 with an application deadline of 11 October 2026. The programme gives interns exposure to products across FICC (Fixed Income, Currencies and Commodities) and Equities, through three rotations chosen from Sales, Trading, Structuring, and Platform & Electronic Trading, supported by managers, buddies and mentors. The advert describes each seat. Sales: supporting the salesforce, client relationship management, marketing material and client presentations, exploring leads through research, and analytical projects on client profitability. Trading: supporting traders, shadowing and mock trading to learn risk management and market making, analysing client and market data to develop and execute trades, and following macro and company events in real time. Structuring: supporting structurers, traders and sales across all clients and products, from pitchbooks to designing and marketing a new client solution, working with Quants and Research across Equities, Rates, FX and Credit. Platform and Electronic Trading: the cross-asset electronic trading platform, roles in product sales, sales-trading, consulting and project management, and projects such as automating workflows, building pricing and risk tools, optimisation algorithms and a prototype application. Source
'Rotational' is the point: three rotations in a ten-week summer means roughly three weeks per desk, and the offer at the end comes from a desk that wants you back. The four functions are four different jobs, and the desired list (programming, quantitative degrees, German or Dutch for certain roles) tells you the platform and structuring seats are pulling the technical candidates while sales and trading remain open to anyone with the markets interest.
The team
This sits under the bank's S&T unit, and the advert describes Global Markets as the business spanning FICC and Equities, with the summer rotations across Sales, Trading, Structuring and Platform & Electronic Trading, and the structuring seat working with Quants and Research across Equities, Rates, FX and Credit. 13 people have held London roles at Bank of America's Global Markets unit since 2018, against 6 in the narrower S&T unit and 139 in IBD in the same data. The markets side is thinly represented in what we see for this bank, so do not read those numbers as the size of the floor.
The Platform & Electronic Trading rotation is the one to look at twice. Its own description is building tools, automating workflows and prototyping an application, and its listed roles include consulting and project management; it sits inside Global Markets but the day is closer to a product or engineering job than to a desk. If you want a trading seat, say so and rotate through Trading and Structuring.
The firm
Bank of America describes its purpose as helping make financial lives better through the power of every connection, delivered through Responsible Growth, and states a commitment to an in-office culture with specific attendance requirements and role-based flexibility. Applications are capped at 8 per recruitment season worldwide and EMEA applicants may submit only one; after that you cannot apply to any other EMEA programme that season. Source
321 people have held London roles at Bank of America as a whole since 2018, against 13 in Global Markets, so the trading floor is a small share of the bank's London people next to investment banking.
What this posting signals
Candidates who perform well may be offered full-time employment starting July 2028, with some lines of business offering a January or April start; you must be able to take one of those dates, as no deferrals are offered. Recruiting is rolling once applications open and assessments often begin before the deadline, and the bank warns applications may close early. Source
A 2027 summer programme opened at the start of September 2026 with a July 2028 full-time start and a September 2027 to July 2028 completion window is the annual campus cycle, built to convert into the 2028 analyst class.
Six weeks from posting to deadline with rolling assessment favours early applications. Because you get one EMEA application per season, this rotational advert is the right choice if you know you want markets but not which desk, and the wrong one if you already know you want a single product team.
Are you eligible?
You must be pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's at an accredited university with a completion date between September 2027 and July 2028, where completion means all exams and coursework done; the bank may ask for evidence before an offer. On track for a minimum 2:1 or equivalent. Essentials: drive, innovation and a genuine interest in financial markets; team-working, leadership, problem-solving and creativity; accountability and productivity with analytical skill; communication that influences outcomes; cooperation within a team; integrity and ethics. Desired: programming experience and strong technical skills; fluency in German, Dutch or other relevant European languages for certain roles; degrees in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science or similar quantitative disciplines; and the ability to combine technical excellence with communication and relationship-building. Source
The completion window starts in September 2027, so a final-year student graduating in summer 2027 is outside it; this is a penultimate-year intake. Nothing technical is essential, but everything technical is desired, so a non-quantitative candidate should lead with a markets view and a language rather than compete on code.
