What this title actually means

This is Bank of America's 2027 Off-cycle Analyst internship in Investment Banking, London, placed in the UK & Ireland Investment Banking & EMEA Corporate Broking team. The programme starts Monday 11 January and runs four months with an option to extend by two; the year is not printed against the date, but the title and the July 2027 graduate start make it the 2027 intake. Source

As an Off-cycle Analyst you work on projects alongside bankers in industry, product and country coverage groups, take part in executing transactions with clients, other banks and advisers, help deliver client solutions using the whole bank, and contribute to client presentations and the financial analysis beneath them. Formal training comes at the start, with on-the-job support, speaker events and mentorship after. Source

'Corporate Broking' is the phrase to understand. It is the London-specific job of being a listed company's retained adviser: the bank the board rings first, keeps on a standing mandate, and uses for its dealings with shareholders and the market. That is why this team is organised by country (UK & Ireland) rather than by industry, and why the advert leads with 'retained client base' and FTSE 100 relationships rather than a sector list. This is one advert of several the bank has posted for the same programme under different team names, with identical programme, eligibility and deadline text and one EMEA application per season, so applying here is choosing this team.

The team

The UK & Ireland Investment Banking & EMEA Corporate Broking team is described as one of the largest in Europe, around 50 bankers covering an extensive retained client base, working with some of the best-known public and private companies in the UK across all sectors, and retained adviser to roughly one in four FTSE 100 companies. Analysts get client exposure from day one and are typically involved in executing flagship transactions in the UK and across borders, across corporate finance, M&A, equity capital markets and strategic advisory. Source

139 people have held London roles at Bank of America's IBD since 2018, the division this team sits inside. there is no separate count for the UK coverage team, so read that as the wider London analyst population rather than the ~50 bankers the advert describes.

A country team with retained FTSE clients means the analyst work leans towards ongoing relationship material (board papers, shareholder analysis, market updates) as well as live deals, and it means UK public-market rules and listed-company life are the vocabulary. If you want breadth across sectors inside one team, this is the widest UK seat in the intake.

The firm

Bank of America describes its purpose as helping make financial lives better through the power of every connection, delivered through Responsible Growth, and states a commitment to an in-office culture with specific attendance requirements and role-based flexibility. Applications are capped at 8 per recruitment season worldwide and EMEA applicants may submit only one; after that you cannot apply to any other EMEA programme that season. Source

321 people have held London roles at Bank of America as a whole since 2018, against 139 in IBD, so investment banking is the largest single destination for the bank's London hires.

What this posting signals

Recruiting is rolling once applications open, assessments often begin before the deadline, and the bank says applications may close before the stated date. Anyone converted to a full-time offer must join the graduate programme from July 2027; no deferred starts are offered. Source

Thirteen days from posting to deadline, with rolling assessment inside it, makes the first week the practical deadline. A January start, four-plus-two months and a July 2027 graduate start together describe a route into the 2027 analyst class for someone already finishing, not a taster.

The one-EMEA-application rule is the decision. If your interest is UK plc rather than a particular industry, and you can talk about a FTSE company's recent results and share price, this is the advert to spend it on.

Are you eligible?

You must hold or be pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's from an accredited university. If already graduated, your graduation date must be after January 2026; if still studying, all exams and coursework must be complete before July 2027, and the bank may ask for evidence. On track for a minimum 2:1 or equivalent; available from Monday 11 January for four months plus a possible two-month extension; able to start the graduate programme in July 2027 if offered. Essentials: fluency in English; drive, innovation and a genuine interest in financial markets; teamwork, leadership, problem-solving and creativity; analytical skill with financial and commercial acumen; persuasive communication; integrity. Source

The window is narrower than it reads: a 2025 graduate is out, a final-year student finishing in summer 2027 is in, and a penultimate-year student cannot be in London full-time from January and belongs in the summer analyst intake.
