Investment Banking 2027 Analyst Off-cycle Internship - Technology, Media and Telecommunications (TMT) - London 2027
Closes tomorrow, Sun 13 September
What this title actually means
This is Bank of America's 2027 Off-cycle Analyst internship in Investment Banking, London, placed in the Technology, Media and Telecommunications (TMT) team. The programme starts Monday 11 January and runs four months, extendable by two; the year is not printed against the date, but the title and the July 2027 graduate start place it in the 2027 intake. This advert spells out the analyst work more than the bank's other sector adverts do: supporting execution across M&A, private and public capital raises including IPOs, and leveraged finance; financial analysis including valuation, benchmarking and modelling; client presentations and pitch materials; company, industry and market research; and working with deal team members in other regions, clients, other banks and advisers. Source
The sector name is the team you would sit with. The bank has posted the same Off-cycle Analyst programme under several sector names with identical programme, eligibility and deadline text, and EMEA applicants get one application per season, so this is one intake with sector placements and applying here means choosing TMT.
The team
The TMT team covers what the bank calls critical, high-growth sectors facilitating digital transformation: AI, software, internet, media, telecom and digital infrastructure, across every product the bank offers. Source
139 people have held London roles at Bank of America's IBD since 2018, the division TMT sits inside. there is no separate count for the TMT team, so treat that number as the size of the wider London analyst population, not the group.
The desired list (European languages such as German, Nordics or Spanish; STEM degrees such as data science or engineering) tells you who the group is short of. A technical degree is not required for TMT banking, but here it is named as a plus, which is unusual in a coverage advert and worth leading with if you have one.
The firm
Bank of America describes its purpose as helping make financial lives better through the power of every connection, delivered through what it calls Responsible Growth, and states a commitment to an in-office culture with attendance requirements and role-based flexibility. Applications are capped at 8 per recruitment season worldwide and EMEA applicants may submit only one; after that you cannot apply to any other EMEA programme that season. Source
321 people have held London roles at Bank of America as a whole since 2018, against 139 in IBD, so investment banking is the largest single destination for the bank's London hires.
What this posting signals
Recruiting is rolling once applications open, assessments often begin before the deadline, and the bank warns that applications may close before the stated date. Anyone converted to a full-time offer must join the graduate programme from July 2027; no deferrals. Source
Thirteen days from posting to deadline with rolling assessment inside it makes the first week the real deadline. A January start, four-plus-two months, and a July 2027 graduate start together describe a route into the 2027 analyst class for someone already finishing, not a taster.
The one-EMEA-application rule is the decision that matters. If TMT is the sector you can talk about for thirty minutes, this is your one shot; if not, spend it on the sector advert you can.
Are you eligible?
You must hold or be pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's from an accredited university. If already graduated, your graduation date must be after January 2026; if still studying, all exams and coursework must be complete before July 2027, and the bank may ask for evidence. On track for a minimum 2:1 or equivalent; available from Monday 11 January for four months plus a possible two-month extension; able to start the graduate programme in July 2027 if offered. Essentials: fluency in English; drive, innovation and a genuine interest in financial markets; teamwork, leadership, problem-solving and creativity; analytical skill with financial and commercial acumen; persuasive communication; integrity. Desired: European languages (German, Nordics, Spanish given as examples) and STEM degrees (data science, engineering). Source
The window is narrower than it reads: a 2025 graduate is out, a final-year student finishing in summer 2027 is in, and a penultimate-year student cannot be in London full-time from January and belongs in the summer analyst intake instead.
