Investment Banking 2027 Analyst Off-cycle Internship - Financial Institutions Group (FIG) - London
Closes tomorrow, Sun 13 September
What this title actually means
This is Bank of America's 2027 Off-cycle Analyst internship in Investment Banking, London, placed in the Financial Institutions Group (FIG). The programme starts Monday 11 January and runs four months with an option to extend by two; the year is not printed against the date, but the title and the July 2027 graduate start make it the 2027 intake. As an Off-cycle Analyst you work on projects alongside bankers in industry, product and country coverage groups, help deliver client solutions using the whole bank, contribute to client presentations and the financial analysis beneath them, and take part in executing transactions with clients, other banks and advisers. Formal training comes at the start, with on-the-job support, speaker events and mentorship after. Source
'FIG' is the team, and choosing this advert is choosing it. The bank has posted the same Off-cycle Analyst programme under several sector names with identical programme, eligibility and deadline text, and EMEA applicants get one application per season, so this is one intake with sector placements.
The team
FIG is about 50 professionals across EMEA advising financial services clients on strategic M&A, corporate finance and capital markets. Its coverage universe is Banking & Insurance, FinTech, Asset & Wealth Management, and Exchanges & Specialty Finance. The team says it offers broad training, client access from day one, global exposure and a balanced mix of origination and execution, with leadership that has deep FIG experience. Source
139 people have held London roles at Bank of America's IBD since 2018, the division FIG sits inside. there is no separate count for FIG, so read that as the wider London analyst population rather than the c.50 professionals the advert describes across EMEA.
This is the one sector advert in the intake where a second language is close to essential rather than nice to have: the essentials say English and an additional European language is strongly preferable, and the desired list names Italian, Spanish, Nordic and Dutch. That is a map of where the team's clients are. The four sub-sectors named (banking and insurance, fintech, asset and wealth management, exchanges and specialty finance) are also the reading list: pick one and be able to describe how a company in it makes money.
The firm
Bank of America describes its purpose as helping make financial lives better through the power of every connection, delivered through Responsible Growth, and states a commitment to an in-office culture with specific attendance requirements and role-based flexibility. Applications are capped at 8 per recruitment season worldwide and EMEA applicants may submit only one; after that you cannot apply to any other EMEA programme that season. Source
321 people have held London roles at Bank of America as a whole since 2018, against 139 in IBD, so investment banking is the largest single destination for the bank's London hires.
What this posting signals
Recruiting is rolling once applications open, assessments often begin before the deadline, and the bank says applications may close before the stated date. Anyone converted to a full-time offer must join the graduate programme from July 2027; no deferred starts are offered. Source
Thirteen days from posting to deadline, with rolling assessment inside it, makes the first week the practical deadline. A January start, four-plus-two months and a July 2027 graduate start together describe a route into the 2027 analyst class for someone already finishing, not a taster.
The one-EMEA-application rule is the decision. If you have Italian, Spanish, Dutch or a Nordic language and can talk about a bank or insurer as a business, this advert is where that combination is worth most; without the language, one of the other sector adverts may be the better use of the single application.
Are you eligible?
You must hold or be pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's from an accredited university. If already graduated, your graduation date must be after January 2026; if still studying, all exams and coursework must be complete before July 2027, and the bank may ask for evidence. On track for a minimum 2:1 or equivalent; available from Monday 11 January for four months plus a possible two-month extension; able to start the graduate programme in July 2027 if offered. Essentials: fluency in English, with an additional European language strongly preferable; drive, innovation and a genuine interest in financial markets; teamwork, leadership, problem-solving and creativity; analytical skill with financial and commercial acumen; persuasive communication; integrity. Desired language skills: Italian, Spanish, Nordic and Dutch. Source
The window is narrower than it reads: a 2025 graduate is out, a final-year student finishing in summer 2027 is in, and a penultimate-year student cannot be in London full-time from January and belongs in the summer analyst intake.
