You trade bonds that development banks issue in emerging market currencies, helping launch new issues and managing the currency and interest rate risk they bring.

Supranational borrowers are institutions owned by several governments, such as development banks. Some sell bonds in the local currencies of emerging markets. The EM SSA Trading desk at Goldman Sachs works on these bonds both when they are first issued and when they trade afterwards. It also trades interest rate swaps, cross currency basis swaps, currencies and government bonds across Asia, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America. The seat is at analyst or associate level.
