What the job is
You help a team that lends money directly to companies, instead of a bank or the bond market, as an off-cycle intern in Goldman Sachs Asset Management in London. Private Credit is the lending side of the asset management business's alternatives arm. It lends to mid sized and large companies, often ones owned by private equity firms, and holds the loans in its funds. The interest goes to the pension funds, insurers and wealthy clients whose money it invests. It differs from the bank's leveraged finance team, which arranges loans and sells them on, in that it keeps each loan and lives with the result.
An off-cycle internship runs outside the summer window, and its length depends on your university and course. You sit inside the team's live work rather than on a separate programme track, with training at the start.
