European Public & Private Equity Capital Markets (ECM) & GP Solutions 2027 Summer Analyst Programme
No deadline given. It closes when the places fill, which on a sought-after London desk is often weeks after it opens. Apply as if it closes tomorrow.
What this title actually means
A ten-week summer analyst programme in London starting June 2027, aimed at students in their second or penultimate year. Applications opened on 19 August 2026 and Rothschild & Co recruits on a rolling basis, interviewing continuously once applications are open. Summer Analysts work across the Client solutions division in both public and private Equity Capital Markets and in GP Solutions. Source
The firm's own account of the desk's work is unusually specific about the mix: its Equity Capital Markets advisory practice has been the leading independent adviser since it formed in 2009, has worked on over 430 equity offerings with a combined deal value the page puts at more than 390 billion (the currency symbol did not survive our capture of the page), and the work is heavily skewed towards transactions rather than pitching, with a strong pipeline of deals. The team works closely with the M&A sector teams and the debt advisory team. Source
Background on the product itself: capital markets sits between issuers needing capital and institutions deploying it, and the bank originates, structures, syndicates and executes. ECM is event-driven and sentiment-dependent - IPOs run twelve to twenty-four months before launch and then four to six months formally, with bookbuilding over one to five days; fees run 3-7% on IPOs and 2-4% on follow-ons; and a window can slam shut on a 10% market correction. Source
The title is two jobs joined by an ampersand, and the difference is the level of the client. Public & Private ECM works at company and asset level: raising equity for a business, whether it is listed (IPOs, follow-ons, recapitalisations, sell-downs, convertibles) or private (minority and structured equity, growth and venture raises). GP Solutions works at fund and management-company level: the client is the private equity firm itself. Note what that is not - this is advisory, not investing. Our own taxonomy tags this row Private Equity, and that label will mislead you: you advise sponsors on their funds and their houses, you do not deploy capital alongside them.
The team
there is no team record for this row. The posting names its business clearly enough - Global Markets Solutions, and inside it the two desks this programme spans - but our own units for Rothschild & Co stop at the level above, so we cannot give you a headcount for the desk you would actually sit on. Read the counts below as the neighbourhood, not the room.
The team is Global Markets Solutions, which the firm calls Europe's leading, independent, fully integrated equity solutions business and a key pillar of Global Advisory alongside mergers and acquisitions and debt advisory and restructuring. GMS has two core pillars: Client solutions, which executes equity transactions for corporates and shareholders (sponsor and non-sponsor) and contains both Public & Private ECM at company or asset level and GP Solutions at fund or GP level; and Investor coverage, which delivers access to public equity and to strategic and private investors. Source
GP Solutions advises private equity sponsors on fund-level transactions - single-asset and multi-asset continuation vehicles, strip sales, NAV financing and fund preferred equity - and on GP or management-company-level transactions: GP minority equity sales and staking, and GP debt raises. It works across buyout, venture, infrastructure, growth, real estate and credit. Source
74 people have held London roles in Rothschild & Co's Global Advisory since 2018 - the division the firm says GMS sits inside. The record do not break Global Markets Solutions out on its own, so this is the closest honest measure we have of the world around this desk.
82 people have held London roles in Rothschild & Co's M&A unit since 2018 - the sector teams this posting says the ECM desk works closely with, and the largest single unit the record holds at the firm. the record records it alongside the Global Advisory row rather than nested inside it, so do not add the two together.
Because one programme spans two desks, ten weeks will put you on one of them for most of it. Continuation vehicles and GP staking are the fastest-moving corner of European private markets and almost nobody applying will be able to talk about them; an IPO is the thing everybody prepares for. Decide which conversation you want to have, and be ready for the other one.
The firm
Rothschild & Co's site sets out four businesses: Global Advisory, Wealth Management, Asset Management, and Five Arrows, the alternative assets arm running private equity and private debt funds. Source
321 people have held London roles at Rothschild & Co as a whole since 2018, across those four businesses - one of the deeper London benches, and worth knowing when you are looking for someone who has done this job to ask about it.
What this posting signals
A June 2027 start advertised from 19 August 2026 is the annual campus cycle, and the posting says the internship can lead to consideration for a permanent role on the Graduate Programme once you finish university. That makes the ten weeks the real graduate application: the offer at the end is the point, not the experience.
Rolling review with continuous interviews and no closing date means seats go as suitable people appear. September and October are the months that matter; by the spring you are competing for whatever is left rather than for the class.
Are you eligible?
Aimed at students in their second or penultimate year of university, on track for a minimum of a 2:1 or equivalent. The firm asks for a genuine interest in corporate finance and equity markets with good commercial awareness, strong analytical and numerical skills, good MS Office skills including Word, Excel and PowerPoint, excellent communication and teamwork, diligence, attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple tasks, and the capability to deliver results under tight deadlines. The programme begins with intensive classroom training in accounting, valuation and modelling plus soft skills training before you join the team. Source
No degree subject is specified and the technical training is delivered on arrival, so the filter at application stage is the interest, not the CV line. The page also says a separate Summer Analyst Programme exists for Rothschild & Co Redburn - the group's equities business - so check you are applying to the advisory side rather than the research and execution side before you submit.
