What the job is
You lend out bonds and cash that HSBC holds for its clients, and trade those loans to earn the clients extra income. Big investors hold bonds they do not need every day. Through agency lending, the bank lends those bonds to other banks and brokers who need them for a while, collects a fee and shares the income with the owner. As the agent you act for the owner and stay inside the limits each client has agreed, called the mandate.
The seat sits in Agency Lending, part of HSBC Securities Services, which looks after investments for clients within the Markets and Securities Services business. You cover fixed income, meaning bonds, and cash, with a focus on markets in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
