What the job is
You design, build and run the computer programs that trade for the bank automatically, quoting prices to clients and managing the risk that follows. This is market making, which means always being ready to buy from or sell to clients and earning the small gap between the two prices.
The seat is in the eRisk systematic trading quant team, which owns HSBC's automated trading platform. The work covers FX, which is currencies, and STIR, which is short term interest rate products, at both very high speed and slower frequencies. Associate here is a rank above entry level, for someone who already has a doctorate and trading experience.
