You spend a summer helping a team that arranges loans and bonds for companies that already carry a lot of debt, often because a private equity firm has bought them. You join the Corporate and Leveraged Finance Department in London for twelve weeks. Private equity firms buy whole companies with some of their own money and a lot of borrowed money. This team provides that borrowed money, as leveraged loans or as high yield bonds, which pay more interest because the borrower is riskier.
