Redburn Research Summer Internship 2027 - London
No deadline given. It closes when the places fill, which on a sought-after London desk is often weeks after it opens. Apply as if it closes tomorrow.
What this title actually means
This is the 2027 summer internship in equity Research at Rothschild & Co Redburn in London: a 10-week programme starting June 2027 for students in their second or penultimate year. There is no fixed closing date: the firm recruits on a rolling basis, accepting applications and interviewing continuously once applications open, and tells candidates to apply early. Source
'Research' means sell-side equity research. In the advert's words, an equity research analyst provides industrial insight and analysis into a company or sector and produces detailed arguments for buying or selling its shares; the analysts and salespeople then debate that buy or sell case with clients, often face to face. Departments are split into coverage groups by sector, and Rothschild & Co Redburn has over 90 analysts in London across 24 research sectors plus quantitative and technical analysis teams. Source
'Redburn' is Rothschild & Co Redburn, the group's equities business in Research, Execution and Equity Capital Markets. Redburn and Atlantic Equities were both formed in 2003, Redburn on European and Atlantic on US equities, and merged under Rothschild & Co ownership in 2023; the advert says seating US and European research together in London gives it a global industrial approach. The team
This sits under Redburn Research. The advert describes a London department of more than 90 analysts across 24 sector coverage groups and quantitative and technical teams, whose product is a detailed buy or sell argument on a company that is then defended in client meetings. Across all its internships the firm wants a genuine interest in financial markets, high levels of communication, accuracy and attention to detail, and relationship-building and teamwork skills, and you get meaningful responsibility as soon as you join the desk. 74 people have held London roles at Rothschild & Co's Global Advisory since 2018, against 82 in the group's M&A in the same data. Redburn is not broken out separately, so we cannot size the research floor beyond the advert's own '90 analysts' or say where its juniors go; the comparison tells you only that the group's London footprint is its advisory bank.
With 24 sectors and one advert, which sector you land in is the allocation after the offer, and the firm says it may place you in a team other than the one you request. Name a sector preference in the application anyway, with a reason; an intern who has read the companies is easier to place.

What this posting signals
The programme starts with intensive classroom training in accounting, valuation and modelling plus internally led presentations, then you join your allocated team, with networking events and learning sessions through the summer. The firm tries to match you to a requested team but may place you in an alternative team it considers a better fit. Source
A 2027 summer posted in August 2026 is the annual campus cycle. This advert, unlike the firm's Sales and Execution Services ones, does not state that graduate positions come only through the summer internship, so ask at interview what the summer converts into.
Rolling recruitment with continuous interviews and no closing date means seats go to whoever applies first and well: apply in September. The listing's technical expiry date on the advert is a placeholder years away and is not a deadline.
Are you eligible?
Aimed at students in their second or penultimate year of university, on track for a minimum 2:1 or equivalent, with a genuine interest in corporate finance and good commercial awareness. The competencies listed are communication (written and spoken), teamwork alongside the ability to work independently, strong quantitative and analytical skills with comfort writing prose, drive and a self-starting attitude, creativity and independent thinking, and resilience with perspective and humour. Source
'Second or penultimate year' is broader than most banks: a second-year on a four-year course qualifies, as does a penultimate-year student on any course. Final-year students are not named, so assume they are not the target. 'Comfortable writing prose' is a real requirement in research; bring a writing sample in your head.
