Redburn Sales Summer Internship 2027 - London
No deadline given. It closes when the places fill, which on a sought-after London desk is often weeks after it opens. Apply as if it closes tomorrow.
What this title actually means
This is the 2027 summer internship in Sales at Rothschild & Co Redburn in London: a 10-week programme starting June 2027 for students in their second or penultimate year. No closing date is stated, and the firm warns that applications may close early and tells you to apply early. Source
'Sales' here is equity sales at a research house, not selling in the everyday sense. Redburn's salespeople market and distribute all of the firm's research (fundamental analysis, its quantitative product, economic and macro thought leadership, technical analysis and income screening) to professional investors. The advert says a salesperson must be an expert in both the market and the firm's products, know each client's investment style, tailor content to it and give advice against each client's own criteria, becoming the client's go-to contact. Source
'Redburn' is Rothschild & Co Redburn, the group's equities business in Research, Execution and Equity Capital Markets. Redburn and Atlantic Equities were both formed in 2003, Redburn on European and Atlantic on US equities, and merged under Rothschild & Co ownership in 2023, seating US and European research together in London. Source
The team
This sits under Redburn Sales, and the advert describes the team's job as account management of professional investors: matching each client's needs and style of investing with the firm's research and expertise, and advising them on European and US equities alongside the research analysts. Across all its internships the firm wants a genuine interest in financial markets, high levels of communication, accuracy and attention to detail, and relationship-building and teamwork skills, and you get meaningful responsibility as soon as you join the desk. 74 people have held London roles at Rothschild & Co's Global Advisory since 2018, against 82 in the group's M&A in the same data. Redburn is not broken out separately, so we cannot size the sales desk or say where its juniors go; the comparison tells you only that the group's London footprint is its advisory bank, and this seat is in a different business.
Sales at a research house is the seat where you read every note the analysts write and then argue it with fund managers by phone. It rewards people who like markets and conversation more than building models; the advert's oddly worded ask for an interest in 'corporate finance' is best read as wanting you to understand the companies you will be talking about.
The firm
Rothschild & Co Redburn says its purpose is to help clients generate superior investment performance, built on intellectual freedom, commercial research, best execution and premium client service, with a partnership ethos that continues in keeping with its parent's historic culture. It provides institutional investors with equity research, quantitative and technical analysis, economics research and agency execution in European and North American equities, serves corporates through an Equity Capital Markets division, and links investors to experts through Rothschild & Co Redburn Access. 321 people have held London roles at Rothschild & Co as a whole since 2018.
What this posting signals
The programme starts with intensive classroom training in accounting, valuation and modelling plus internally led presentations, then you join your allocated team, with networking events and learning sessions through the summer. Rothschild & Co Redburn currently offers graduate positions only to people who have completed a summer internship with it, and while it tries to match you to a requested team it may place you in an alternative team it considers a better fit. Source
'Graduate positions only through the summer internship' makes this the front door to Redburn, not a taster. A 2027 summer posted in August 2026 is the annual cycle.
No closing date and an apply-early warning means rolling review: apply in September. The listing's technical expiry date on the advert is a placeholder years away and is not a deadline. Because the firm may reassign you between Research, Sales and Execution, apply to the one you actually want and say why in the form.
Are you eligible?
Aimed at students in their second or penultimate year of university, on track for a minimum 2:1 or equivalent, with a genuine interest in corporate finance and good commercial awareness. The competencies listed are communication (written and spoken), teamwork alongside the ability to work independently, strong quantitative and analytical skills with comfort writing prose, drive and a self-starting attitude, creativity and independent thinking, and resilience with perspective and humour. Source
'Second or penultimate year' is broader than most banks: a second-year on a four-year course qualifies, as does a penultimate-year student on any course. Final-year students are not named, so assume they are not the target.
