This is UBS's 2027 Quant Off-Cycle Internship in the Investment Bank, London. The programme is six months, April to September, and paid. You would research, test and implement derivatives, optimisation and inventory-prediction models and tools; work closely with trading desks and control functions on quantitative and modelling support; work with Trading, Structuring and Sales to improve pricing capabilities; and make sure applications and models are tested to a high standard. Source
'Investment Bank Quants' means front-office quant: the people who build the pricing and risk models the desks trade on, not a risk-control or technology function. The advert's own list (delta-one, flow, exotics, financing and QIS products; XVA and capital measures) is the desk-side vocabulary, and the six-month length is what it takes to ship a model rather than shadow one.
The team
Nothing attaches this posting to a named team node, so the description below comes from the advert itself.
The Quant business works across Equities, Interest Rates, FX and Credit, covering delta-one, flow, exotics, Financing and QIS products, and also provides exposure models, analytics and tools to traders and risk managers globally, covering traditional XVAs and capital measures. It partners closely with trading, technology and control functions. Source
5 people have held London roles at UBS's Global Markets unit since 2018, the business these quants serve. That is at the floor of what we publish, so read it only as a sign that the markets side of the bank is a small share of the London people, not as a measure of the quant group.
The firm
UBS describes itself as a firm with a truly global footprint, says it uses artificial intelligence to work smarter and puts collaboration at the centre of how it works, and states it is an equal opportunity employer that offers reasonable adjustments through the recruitment process. Source
253 people have held London roles at UBS as a whole since 2018, against 5 in Global Markets, so this seat sits in one of the least-populated corners of the bank in our London data.
What this posting signals
Recent graduates are admitted up to six months before the internship start, and a successful internship may lead to an offer to return for the Graduate Talent Program after your studies. Source
A fixed April-to-September window advertised a year ahead, with the graduate programme named as the destination, is an annual quant intake rather than a one-off. The six-month block fits a master's student's gap between coursework and thesis or a graduate's first half-year.
Four weeks from posting to the 30 September deadline, with the bank's warning that it may close early: apply in the first fortnight. Quant seats are few, and the requirements are specific enough that a screen happens quickly.
Are you eligible?
You should be in the penultimate or final year of your degree or have graduated within six months of the internship start; have or be on track for a 2:1 (UK system) or equivalent in your first undergraduate degree; have a strong academic background in a quantitative discipline (mathematics, science, engineering); academic familiarity with quantitative finance, derivatives modelling, pricing or machine learning; familiarity with financial markets and products; clear communication when explaining complex ideas; strong programming and algorithmic skills; and be able to show how experimental and responsible use of AI can improve outcomes and efficiency. Source
This advert does not say all majors are welcome: the quantitative-discipline line is the gate, and 'academic familiarity with derivatives modelling or pricing' means a course, not a book you have read. A maths, physics or engineering student with a stochastic calculus or ML module and real code to show fits; a finance student without the maths does not.
The route that always works, and the one they are most likely to read.
The firm publishes this person, and publishes no address we could read for anyone here, so there is no pattern to show you either. Search their name and firm on LinkedIn and write from your own account.
