Mergers and acquisitions

You help companies buy, sell and merge businesses, building the valuations and documents behind each deal at Citi's investment bank in London. Senior Analyst is an intermediate level. You are above a new starter but still the junior member of the deal team, trusted with more of the work.

The seat sits in M&A, the mergers and acquisitions team. M&A advisers work for a company that wants to buy another business, sell itself or part of itself, fend off an unwanted bid or combine with a rival. The bank does not put its own money into the deal. It is paid a fee, mostly when the deal completes. The team also helps clients raise money in the capital markets, which means selling shares or bonds to investors, and it works in coordination with the Institutional Banking team that looks after Citi's relationships with large companies.
