You help senior bankers look after banks, insurers and other financial companies that borrow from and do business with Citi. This is a corporate banking seat in the UK FIG team, the part of the bank that serves other financial firms. Corporate banking is the relationship side of a bank. You keep a client close, understand what it needs, and bring in the specialists who lend money, raise debt or handle its cash.

Associate here means an intermediate level, a step above the most junior bankers. You support the team in origination, which means finding new business with clients, and in execution, which means getting a deal done once the client has agreed. Lending the bank's money carries risk, so part of the job is judging whether each client can repay and whether the business is worth the capital it ties up.
