What the job is

You build and look after the software that shares out researchers' heavy computing jobs across a large farm of computers, so their experiments run quickly and reliably. This is a software engineering seat at G-Research, in London. The seat is called functional programmer because the main system is written in F#, a functional programming language.

The firm's quants, its quantitative researchers, test ideas about markets by running enormous calculations, and your work makes sure those calculations reach the machines they need and finish. Functional programming is a style of coding where a program is built from functions that turn inputs into outputs without changing anything else along the way, which makes large systems easier to reason about and test.
