What the job is
You help investigate failed companies to find money that can be recovered for the people they owe, while training as an apprentice. This is a school leaver apprenticeship in the Contentious Insolvency team at Interpath Advisory.
When a company goes into insolvency, the formal process for a business that cannot pay its debts, the team looks into what went wrong. It hunts for payments or sales made before the collapse that can be reversed, claims against directors who broke their duties, and assets that were moved or hidden. Contentious means the cases are disputed, so the work runs closely with lawyers.
By the end of the programme you are awarded a professional qualification. You can go on to further exams, such as the Associate Chartered Accountant qualification, the Certificate of Proficiency in Insolvency and, later, the Joint Insolvency Board qualification that leads to becoming a qualified insolvency practitioner.
