What the job is
You help recover money for those a failed company owes, by finding what went wrong and building claims, in Interpath's Contentious Insolvency team in London. Insolvency is the formal process for a business that cannot pay its debts, and contentious means the work involves disputes that may end in court.
The team looks for payments or asset sales before the collapse that can be reversed, claims against directors who broke their duties, and assets that were moved or hidden, then works to trace and recover them for the creditors, the people and firms the company owed money to.
You can train for the ACA with the ICAEW and for the CPI, and later for the JIEB qualification to become a licensed insolvency practitioner, the person legally appointed to run a failed company's affairs.
