What the job is
You help run the practical side of company deals, planning how a business is split off before a sale or joined up with its buyer after one. The seat is a Senior Executive, the Manager grade, in the Deal Management team of EY-Parthenon, the part of EY that joins strategy consulting with deal work. Clients include company bosses, boards and private equity firms, which are investors that buy whole companies with money from their funds.
The work sits on both sides of a deal. Before it, you do operational due diligence, which means checking how a business really runs so a buyer knows what it is getting, and carve-out planning, which means working out how to separate a division from its parent. After it, you plan and track the integration, the job of merging the bought company into its new owner so the hoped for savings and growth actually arrive.
