Machine learning engineer

You build the systems that train large machine learning models and run them live inside a trading firm's trading systems. The models predict how markets will move, and the firm's traders and researchers use those predictions to decide what to buy and sell. Your job is to make training faster, so researchers can test more ideas, and to make the live predictions arrive quickly enough to be used in trading. It is a new seat in a team that is growing.

Much of the work is about speed. Training a large model on years of market data can take a long time on ordinary computers, so you spread the work across many machines and across GPUs, graphics processors that do many calculations at once. Live predictions have to be produced in a fraction of a second, so you also build the pipelines that serve the finished models with the lowest possible delay.
