Guggenheim Partners · Technology and services investment banking · Associate
What the job is
You run the day-to-day work on takeovers and fundraising for technology and services companies across Europe, as a mid-level banker in a small London team. The seat is an associate role in Guggenheim Securities' Technology & Services Investment Banking group. It advises companies on mergers and acquisitions, where one company buys or joins with another, on raising money by selling shares or borrowing, on joint ventures, and on restructurings, which means reworking the debts of a company that is struggling to pay them.
The group both wins its work, which is called coverage, and carries it out, which is called execution. An associate typically sits between the analysts and the senior bankers, checking the work that goes up and keeping the deal on schedule. Alongside the deals you get formal and on-the-job training in running a sale, financial and data analysis, presenting, negotiating and winning clients over.
