What the job is
You advise private equity firms on buying and selling companies, running the day-to-day work on their deals as a mid-level banker in a small London team. A private equity firm, which bankers call a financial sponsor, raises money from investors, buys companies, works to make them more valuable and sells them a few years later. The seat is an associate role in Guggenheim Securities' Financial Sponsors Group in London.
The group is organised around the client rather than an industry. The same bankers look after a private equity firm across every deal it does, so the companies you work on can come from any sector. Its clients are large and mid-sized sponsors in the UK and Europe, and the London group is part of the bank's global sponsors practice.
