What this title actually means

This is BlackRock's EMEA Summer Internship Programme for 2027: an eight-week internship running June through August 2027, listed for London and Edinburgh. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and BlackRock warns they may close before the deadline. Source

'EMEA' means one programme advertised across the region, not one London seat. The advert mentions Continental Europe locations, Budapest and a Private Markets Investing position in Zurich alongside the UK, and it is designed to replicate as closely as possible the experience of a full-time BlackRock Analyst: an orientation with senior leaders, then on-the-job training and day-to-day responsibilities in a team, with a speaker series, mentoring and networking through the employee networks. Source

The important word missing from the title is the function. You choose it in the application, up to two of them, and the advert's own examples are Investment Research and Analytics & Modeling. What your summer looks like depends on that choice far more than on the programme name, so read the function descriptions on BlackRock's own site before you fill the form.

The team

No team is named: the advert covers the whole EMEA summer intake and you apply to functions, not to a desk.

What the advert says about placement: after orientation, interns receive on-the-job training and are given day-to-day responsibilities to contribute to their teams throughout the summer. You can apply for up to two functions within the programme, and must apply for both on the same programme application. The examples given are Investment Research and Analytics & Modeling. Source

The firm

BlackRock states it is an Equal Opportunities Employer committed to hiring and treating all employees fairly, and under the EU Pay Transparency Directive it publishes an EMEA 2027 Internship Salary Ranges document giving salary ranges by business area and location. Source

114 people have held London roles at BlackRock as a whole since 2018. the record does not break the firm into units at cohort size, so this firm-wide figure is the only one we can give.

What this posting signals

The rules matter more than usual here. You may apply to only one programme (Summer Internship or, for example, the Quantitative Master's Internship) and up to two functions within it; if you withdraw, you cannot apply to this programme again this year. After you submit you receive an email to complete a pre-interview assessment, and you have five days to do it or the application is automatically withdrawn. BlackRock points interns who enjoy the summer towards its Full-Time Analyst Programme afterwards. Source

An eight-week 2027 summer opened in July 2026 with a named full-time programme to follow is the annual campus cycle, built to convert into the 2028 analyst class. The one-programme rule means this application is also your BlackRock choice for the year: decide between summer and off-cycle before you press submit.

Rolling review from July with a 30 September close means seats are being filled through August and September. Apply early, and clear five days after submitting for the assessment.

Are you eligible?

You must be in your penultimate year of study and graduating from an undergraduate or master's degree in 2028. Any degree subject is welcome. Local language fluency is required for Continental Europe locations; only English is needed for Budapest or for a Private Markets Investing position in Zurich, and no language beyond English is asked for in London or Edinburgh. Source

'Graduating in 2028' is the gate. A final-year student finishing in 2027 is out; a first-year finishing in 2029 is a year early. A one-year master's student starting in autumn 2027 and finishing in 2028 fits the wording, but the advert says penultimate year, so check with BlackRock before you spend your one application on it.
