Hedge fund, several strategies

What the job is

You spend a summer building and testing the mathematical models that decide how a hedge fund trades. This is a research internship for people doing a PhD, run from London and Zurich.

Quantitative researchers turn data into trading ideas. They look for patterns in prices and other information that can predict how markets move, prove whether the pattern is real, and write the code that lets the fund trade on it. As an intern you do a small version of that work over an 11 week programme, alongside senior members of the team.
