What the job is
You help a bank lend the money that builds and runs infrastructure such as roads, hospitals, water networks and energy from waste plants. The seat is an analyst job in the Infrastructure Project Finance team at Crédit Agricole CIB in London. In project finance the loan goes to a company set up only for that project and is repaid from the cash the project earns, not from the balance sheet of whoever owns it, so the lender's whole case rests on a contract and a forecast. The team works across Europe, the Middle East and Africa and covers transport, social infrastructure, environment, regulated utilities and newer areas such as low carbon mobility and energy from waste.
The team sits inside Structured Finance, where each team builds a loan around a particular kind of asset. You join as the junior on deal teams led by experienced bankers, and the job is permanent rather than a programme.
