You spend a summer inside a private equity and infrastructure investor in London, helping the people who choose and manage its investments. 3i puts its own money into mid-market companies, which are businesses too big to be small firms but well below the giants, headquartered in Europe and North America. It also owns infrastructure assets, the roads, energy networks and similar long-lived businesses that earn steady income. An intern joins that work for a summer and learns how an investor decides what to buy and how it then helps the business grow.
