Job
Capital markets · Securitised products
NatWest Group · Securitised products and alternatives syndicate · Associate
What the job is
You help sell bonds backed by pools of loans, such as mortgages and car finance, to the investors who buy them. A syndicate desk sits between the bank's deal makers and investors. When a lender wants to turn a pool of its loans into securities, which are bonds paid for by the money flowing in from those loans, the syndicate desk prices them and finds the buyers. On this desk you act as an agent, placing that risk for NatWest Group itself and for outside clients.
The desk covers two kinds of deal. Securitised products are bonds built from pools of loans, such as mortgages, auto finance, loans to small businesses and unsecured consumer loans. Alternatives covers risk in real estate, infrastructure and bonds from bodies close to government. You also help distribute the NatWest Significant Risk Transfer programme, through which the bank passes part of the risk on its own loans to investors so it needs to hold less capital against them.
