New here? Every junior finance job in London, each one explained in plain English. Start with what the words mean, then work down the board.
Closes Mon 28 September
Investment Banking - Centre for Carbon Transition (CCT) - Analyst / Associate - London. Job Category Associates, Business Unit Commercial & Investment Bank, posted 26 August 2026, at 25 Bank Street, Canary Wharf, E14 5JP, with applications closing 28 September 2026 at 05:00. The CCT team, the posting says, 'leads target-setting and management of the firmwide portfolio-level carbon intensity targets, green financing goal, and Energy Supply Financing Ratio (ESFR) and related external and client engagement', and 'provides transition insights for senior leadership and our banking partners and clients'. The seat is described as 'a Senior Analyst or Associate' working closely with the New York and London-based CCT team. Source
Read 'Investment Banking' in this title as the address, not the job. Nothing in the responsibilities is deal execution: it is target-setting for the firm's own portfolio, judging whether clients' decarbonisation plans are credible, carbon analytics at both single-transaction and industry-portfolio level, and turning the output into recommendations for senior forums. This is an in-house advisory and analytics seat that sits next to the bankers rather than on a deal team, and preparing for it as an M&A interview would be preparing for the wrong job.
'Analyst / Associate' is one advert covering two bands, and the page tells you where the line falls. The extra bar for the Associate half is written out separately - an understanding of banking products, and of carbon accounting in practice (scopes, boundaries, data limitations, interpretability). If you have the climate side but not the banking side, you are an Analyst candidate. Apply at one band, and let the covering note say which and why.
Our org map holds no node for this desk, so nothing in this briefing is prefilled from one. The posting is unusually clear anyway: the team is the Centre for Carbon Transition, a firmwide unit split between New York and London. It is neither a coverage group nor a product group - it works across the bank's whole financing portfolio and interfaces with counterparts throughout the firm as well as with clients. Treat 'Investment Banking' as where it reports and CCT as who you would actually sit with.
The stated responsibilities: support the development and implementation of the firm's strategy to align its financing portfolio with net zero emissions by 2050; evaluate clients' transition strategies and the credibility of their decarbonisation plans; support and own elements of quantitative client and portfolio carbon analytics, assessing carbon performance at individual transaction level and across industry portfolios; translate quantitative and qualitative outputs into executive-ready recommendations for stakeholder engagement and senior forums; and support external engagement and events. The role may involve limited travel and offers exposure across a broad spectrum of industries, asset classes and geographies. Source
215 people have held London roles in JPMorgan's investment banking division since 2018. CCT is not a unit we count separately, so that is the division this row files under, not the size of the team you would join.
The posting places the role in J.P. Morgan's Commercial & Investment Bank, described as a global leader across banking, markets, securities services and payments, trusted with the business of corporations, governments and institutions in more than 100 countries. Source
580 people have held London roles at JPMorgan as a whole since 2018.
The window is short and stated: posted 26 August 2026, apply before 28 September 2026 at 05:00. The posting also notes that the role may involve performing regulated activities, and that the successful candidate will be subject to meeting regulatory requirements on fitness, propriety, knowledge and competence, and where appropriate approval by the relevant regulatory authorities. Look hard at the experience line, because it is the most accessible bar on any lateral posting of this kind: one to three years, and - read it again - not in investment banking. It asks for 'a relevant energy / decarbonization / sustainability / climate role'. Someone two years into a sustainability consultancy, an energy analyst seat, a climate team at a corporate or an NGO is inside the stated bar for the Analyst half of this advert. Very few Canary Wharf seats are open to that CV. If it is yours, this is the row on this list worth your week.
Required: a university degree in a relevant field, for which the posting gives finance, energy or environmental economics, and sustainability as examples; one to three years of experience in a relevant energy, decarbonisation, sustainability or climate role; the ability to convey information clearly, accurately and succinctly in writing and verbally; excellent analytical skills including proficiency in Excel and working with large datasets and third-party data sources; strong attention to detail and a self-starter mindset; and a demonstrated interest in energy, climate and decarbonisation themes. Preferred for Associate consideration: an understanding of banking products, and of carbon accounting concepts and their practical application to corporates - scopes, boundaries, data limitations and interpretability. Source
The degree list is open in a way most banking adverts are not - energy and environmental economics and sustainability sit alongside finance - so a science, geography or engineering degree with a climate internship is not outside the stated bar. Two things the page does not address at all: visa sponsorship or right to work, and any start date. With a 28 September close, get the sponsorship question answered in your first exchange rather than three rounds in.
