What the job is
You work out what private investments are worth for hedge funds and private equity funds. These are holdings such as stakes in unlisted companies or loans that have no market price to look up. A fund still has to tell its own investors what it owns is worth, so it asks an outside adviser for an independent figure. That is the job of the Portfolio Valuation practice at Kroll, and as an Analyst you do much of the building work behind each figure.
