What the job is
You trade European government bonds and interest rate derivatives for the funds PIMCO manages, and come up with the investment ideas behind those trades. You join the firm's UK and Europe rates desk in London.
A trader at an investment manager buys and sells on behalf of the firm's own funds. You carry out the orders portfolio managers decide on and manage the firm wide European books, meaning the combined positions in bonds and derivatives held across the firm. You also generate your own trade ideas and build strategies from the bottom up.
