What the job is
You study companies and the bonds and loans they owe, and help recommend to portfolio managers which ones to invest in. This is a summer internship in credit research in London for students on an MBA, covering EMEA.
Credit research decides whether a borrower is likely to pay back what it owes and whether its debt is priced fairly. Credit analysts at PIMCO each specialise in a set of industries and cover every layer of a company's debt. That runs from investment grade bonds, issued by the safest borrowers, to high yield bonds from riskier ones, along with bank loans and convertibles, which are bonds that can turn into shares.
